Census Data (Business & Industry Data Center)

The Research Team provides social, economic, and land use data about the city of Phoenix to city staff, businesses, and the general public. In this role, we have been designated by the U.S. Bureau of the Census as a Business and Industry Data Center (BIDC). The Research Team works closely with the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) and the Arizona Department of Employment Security (DES) to ensure that population estimates and projections for the city are as accurate as possible. This work includes serving on the MAG and DES Technical Advisory committees (POPTACs) in the development of analytical and population projection methodology.

The Research Team also collects and analyzes data from a variety of sources, such as city of Phoenix building permits, approved general development plans, information from Arizona State University's Real Estate Center, and data from private research companies, in order to characterize the pace of Phoenix development.

Our mission is to provide you with the data or resources necessary for you to accomplish your goals.
